ISSUE TWO

Stereotypes, social media & flying solo

Welcome to the second issue of Headless Friends! Exploring the intersections of creativity, mental health and queer culture, this collection of six articles offers an insight into what I’ve been thinking and talking about lately.

First up, Ælfleda Clackson joins me for a (virtual) chat about how and why she creates online content. Inspired by this discussion, the first of two personal essays looks at my declining love for social media as I question whether it is time to break up with Instagram.

My second personal essay looks at an entirely different topic: flying solo as an over-thinker. I recount how I have been challenging my anxious tendencies in an attempt to become more independent. This pairs nicely with the first article I ever wrote on the subject of anxiety, which I have dug up and dusted off to reshare.

In the second edition of Queer Film Club, I examine how Sing Sing uses queer thinking to subvert stereotypes and unpick masculinity. And finally, Good Things is a brand new series packed full of more inspiring things to watch, read and feed your brain with.
