October Papergang Unboxing

It was my inner stationery addict's favourite time of the month again yesterday October's Papergang box arrived on my doorstep. Each month, the guys at Ohh Deer send out a surprise pack of stationery to Papergang subscribers and this month's theme was animals - pet animals to be specific.

This months box included an A5 pad (£5.95), a pack of 2 A5 notebooks (£5.95), a woven patch (£4.95) and a riso-printed calendar all designed by Maddy Vian as well as "Capugccino" greeting card (£2.50) designed by Gemma Correll. Having already worked with Ohh Deer on several occasions, Gemma is one of their favourite collaborators whilst Maddy Vian is a new addition to the brand. Ever since they launched, one of Ohh Deer's best qualities has been supporting undiscovered artists and so it is great to see that they continue to showcase fresh talent with their ever-expanding platform.

I've been following Maddy Vian's design journey for a while now and have watched all of the video's of her Youtube channel so was very excited when I heard she would be in charge of this month's box. Maddy is a 23 year old illustrator based in Kent and loves 50's design, adventuring and childhood nostalgia. For her box, Maddy chose to use her trusty paints to bring to life a huge variety of energetic pets in a rainbow of colours to created an utterly adorable design.

With cats, dogs, fish, snakes and birds trotting around all of the designs, this month's box was a pet-lover's dream! Now, slightly unfortunately in this case, I myself am not a huge pet lover. I can't get enough woodland and wild animals but pets just aren't my bag. That said, I do have quite a few pet-loving friends and, with the season of giving just around the corner, I will have plenty of present-giving opportunities to give each item a better home.

With any sort of subscription service there will be boxes which appeal to you more than others however with Ohh Deer at the helm you are always guaranteed something beautifully designed with every Papergang. Whilst the pet-themed motifs didn't to me hugely, the illustrator they chose to collaborate with definitely did and I truly hope that there is more Maddy Vian designs coming to Ohh Deer's permanent collection soon!
