Behind The Scenes are a Russian brand who work with creative talent from all over the world to create unique illustrated knitwear. From pastel-coloured dinosaurs to multi-eyed mountains, each collection is created with a different motif and illustrative style but the same unorthodox edge.
It was looking through the work of Barcelona-based illustrator Ricardo Cavolo which led me to discovering Behind The Scenes as a brand. I have been a huge fan of Ricardo's work ever since reading 101 Artists To Listen To Before You Die and I was reminded of his immense talent whilst recently browsing some of his many other titles in a local bookshop in here in Barcelona. Behind The Scenes edgey aesthetic and Ricardo's characterful illustration style seem like a match made in heaven and if I were to ever to get a jumper from Behind The Scenes then I think it would have to be Ricardo's fiery heart design (below, left).
The decision would be an extemely tricky one though as Behind The Scenes have worked with such an excellent rostra of international talent including Sanz I Vila, Murnau Den Linden (top image) and Cote Escriva. I am too torn between all of the brand's amazing jumpers and they are just over £100 each so I think just blogging about them will have to do for now but if I ever win the lottery then I am for sure buying one each!
